The NYSIA/CUNY Internship Program, a year-round program, places CUNY computer science majors in internships with NYSIA member companies. Below are some stories and thanks from companies who have had NYSIA interns.

Russell Bartels , All Digital Consulting

David Edell, a recent graduate of Queens College, provided application design and programming assistance to Russ Bartels of All Digital Consulting during the last two years. David also participated in the research of software for customer-to-computer conversational dialogue about wealth management. Both David and Russ note that NYSIA was a valuable resource that efficiently matched the technical interests of David to the application development problem. David has recently joined NASA as an application developer.

Jason Kreuser, Information Builders Inc.
Jason Kreuser handles the Corporate Technical Recruiting for Information Builders, Inc., the leader in web based business intelligence and the largest software manufacturer in New York City. Here is what he had to say about NYSIA/CUNY Internship program:

"The NYSIA/CUNY internship program offers us a great source for Interns here in the New York City area. The candidates are always pre-screened, and very eager to work in a professional environment. Information Builders has a long standing tradition of promoting technology here in Silicon Alley and working with the great talent that comes from CUNY schools is always very rewarding. We have had good experiences with each of the interns we brought on and I even just finished hiring paperwork on a CUNY student that will be going full time the first of the month. The NYSIA/CUNY intern program has taken all of the work out of filling our intern openings. Instead of posting ads in the newspaper and online I just have to place a phone call to NYSIA."
David Ricciradi, Proximo Consulting Services, Inc.
David Ricciradi is President of Proximo Consulting Services, Inc; which is a provider of business and technology services to companies of all sizes.

"We have been using NYSIA interns since 1999. Our experience has been terrific. NYSIA sends us well-qualified candidates, giving us a pool of talent to choose from that is usually quite deep. The students are almost always motivated in addition to bright, which makes them much easier to integrate into our projects. We put our interns to serious work, making them members of project teams with goals and deadlines. We feel that we provide them with a real-world glimpse of the IT world as well as hands-on training, and many of them take full advantage.

Once we find good interns, they seem to stay with us until graduation. In general terms, we have offered full-time employment to just over half of our interns, and half of those have accepted.

The entire concept is an excellent idea, and I think it is one of the best programs NYSIA has and can run, helping both city college students, its member companies, and, in the long-term, the NY IT industry at large. NYSIA should do all that it can to ensure this program survives and flourishes year after year".

David Arnow and Gerald Weiss, Turing's Craft
David Arnow and Gerald Weiss founded Turing's Craft in 1999. Both Arnow and Weiss are professors of Computer and Information Science at the City University of New York. Here is what they had to say about NYSIA/CUNY Internship Program:

"We have had NYSIA interns since 2001. They have been a very valuable asset to our company and we expect to participate in the program for as long as it exists. We had three interns in the fall, five in the spring and are keeping on two for the summer. For a company like ours which is small and pre-revenue the interns have provided excellent work, especially for the cost of their labor. It's a fantastic deal!

NYSIA and especially Vicki Dawson [and now Dani Rukin as well] have always been quite responsive to any requests or needs we have had relating to the intern program. We would highly recommend the program to any company looking for bright, dedicated and talented people to work part-time".

Tim Hatamian, Mathematicus Labs

As founder and president and of Mathematicus Labs, a consulting firm that provides analytical solutions to complex problems in business, finance and politics; Tim Hatamian knows the value of hard work. Here is what he had to say about the CUNY/NYSIA internship program.

"We had occasion for the first time to hire an intern through the NYSIA program. Though I have had dozens of great student workers during my academic career in ivy league institutions, I had never done so in a commercial application. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the interns and especially with the individual we hired. I recommend this program without qualifications."
